Samaritan Ministry is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people who are homeless or in need to help themselves. The agency's Next Step self-sufficiency approach allows Participants to set life improvement goals for themselves and with the help of Samaritan Ministry staff, determine a series of manageable, specific tasks toward the fulfillment of those goals.  Services such as housing and employment counseling, coaching, motivation, and so much more are offered by our program.

Samaritan Ministry offers free help to anyone who wants to make a change in his or her life.  There is no religious requirement for Program Participants of Samaritan Ministry.

Next Step Breakfast Held at National Press Club

Table setting at the Samaritan Ministry 2010 Next Step Breakfast

On Thursday, May 6, 350 people gathered at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. to learn more about Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington and the Next Step Program. Poignant remarks from a Next Step Program participant moved the crowd. Said Christopher Fleming, " At Samaritan Ministry, the people took the time to listen to me and the problems and issues I was having and did not make a judgment, but said 'We understand, how can we help you?'"

The Ministry, a partnership of over 45 Episcopal and other churches helps people who are homeless and others in need find jobs, housing and make further changes for a better life. The Next Step Breakfast showcases the Ministry's work and encourages attendees to get involved as volunteers or donors. The fourth annual breakfast generated more than $250,000 in gifts and pledges. Former White House Press Secretary Dee Dee Myers emceed the event.
