On the Road Next Step Experiences!

On the Road Next Step Experiences (NSE) – Jan 2007

There is interest from many of our Partner Parishes to bring Samaritan Ministry’s Next Step Experiences “on the road” to their Parishes.  Attendees of an “On the Road” Next Step Experience will learn more about the Next Step program and hear from those involved in the comfort of their own Parish.  If you have already signed up for an “On the Road” Next Step Experience, you will hear from Diane Aten, Director of Development, very soon.  If you have not yet signed up and are interested please call her at 202-722-2280 x304.

Components Needed for a Successful NSE

  • The Partner Parish Representative (PP Rep) will be responsible for the welcome at the beginning of the event, discussing key SMGW programs; a brief close at the end of the session, as well as following up with attendees after the event and providing this information back to the Director of Development (D of D). (The D of D will provide guidance and assistance for the PP Rep to prepare them for this process)

  • Refreshments are optional if Parish would like to provide them. Providing coffee and/or water should be sufficient.

  • A VCR or DVD player will need to be available in room where NSE will take place (SMGW has a TV/VCR unit that can be borrowed from the D of D, if needed).

  • The D of  D will provide the PP Rep with the Next Step video, sign in cards, program handouts/wish lists and fact sheet (these can be emailed or mailed to the PP Rep) as along with the SMGW sign and name tags (both optional).

  • Whenever possible the Partner Parish will provide cab fare or arrange a ride for program participant.  The PP Rep coordinating the NSE will take responsibility for coordinating/arranging for transportation for the program participant to attend the session.  If the P P Rep is not able to coordinate/arrange transportation, the Samaritan Ministry staff will make the arrangements.

  • The Visionary Leader speech will be done on a rotating basis by different Board members and Management staff.

  • Samaritan Ministry’s Program Coordinator will schedule program participants as well as help prepare them to speak at the “On the Road” Next Step Experiences.

  • The D of D will coordinate the scheduling of the On the Road Next Step Experiences as well as the Visionary Leader speakers and participants for the experiences. The D of D will work to make sure everyone is comfortable with their role and the process.

Follow up Process

Within one week after NSE (2-3 days preferred) the PP rep will follow-up and call each attendee of the event.  The PP Rep will ask them five questions (provided by the D of D) and take notes about their responses. All this information will be relayed to D of D for entry into the donor perfect database system and additional follow up, as appropriate.
